L.J. is on the trip because one of his teachers paid for it, and he is there with his twin sister, Ember-Rain. Between the two, L.J. has always been more talkative than his sister, and he has ADD. He grew up without a mother, and a father who was abusing his sister without him knowing. Their older brother was fighting for their custody before they were marooned on the island.He has a protective streak.

Jordan's parents paid a lot of money in order for him to come on the trip. Jordan is an average student, and though he is extremely clever, cunning alone won't get you into the National Honors Society, which his parents had been pressuring, since his older brother was a top student (but he was killed in a car wreck before he could graduate). Jordan has natural leadership skills, and rarely shows any emotion, besides a fierce determination.
Immediately, he was hostile to the other group, especially Sage. Eventually, though, he warms up to them. He came from Portland, Oregon.

Nathan is one of the very smart teens that got the chance to go on the trip. Before the trip, he lived in Galveston, Texas. He has a very positive outlook on life, and can see the silver lining in even the bleakest of times. He's considered small for his age.
