Okay, so FYI, I am a HUGE bookworm. And I just finished the sequel to the best book EVER! And what is that book called? The Hunger Games! Woot!
The Hunger Games is about sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who's younger sister is chosen to take part in the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are a fight to the death on live TV of kids aged 12-18. The Capitol, the city that rules the nation, forces each district send one girl and one boy to participate in their deadly Games. Katniss will not see her younger sister sent to her death, so Katniss goes in her place. Then, some dramatic things happen, and poof! There's the best book ever! Suzanne Collins (aka, the author) has really outdone herself!
Well, it's actually the second best book ever, because the sequel, Catching Fire, is just a bit better! The only thing that weirded me out about this series were the names (Finnick Odair [Is AwEsOmE!], Plutarch Heavensbee ) but I got used to them, and even though they have strange names, most of them are pretty awesome.
Now, I'm going to recommend some more books.
My favorite genres (Action/Fantasy/Adventure/Romance/Sci-Fi):
-The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
-The Midnighters series by Scott Westerfeld
-The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson
-Evernight and Stargazer by Claudia Gray
-The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld
-Gone and Hunger by Michael Grant
-The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong
-The Warriors series by Erin Hunter
-The His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
-Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
-Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
-The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
-Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
-Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
-The House of Night series by PC and Kristen Cast
-The Books of Ember series by Jeanne DuPrau
Okay, I have read more than just these, but these were my favorites. Next, I'll be reading the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, which was recommended by other Hunger Games fans. If you only like realistic fiction, I'll say two things:
1) You're missing out on a lot!
2) You should read books by Sarah Dessen. They're the best realistic fiction that I've read.
So, if you want to chat with me about any of these books, PM me or talk to me in the cbox-- I'm always looking for discussion partners!
