3:00pm July 5th
I remember coming into my marine biology class with my brother that afternoon. We were doing extra credit work as usual because it was something that the both of us could pay attention too.
Mr. Clark walked up to us with two tickets in hand. I looked up at him as I finished my dissection of a clam ready to go help my brother with his squid. "Sof, LJ I have something for you." Lance looked up from his squid and at our beloved teacher with all ears. "I have tickets for you guys to go on the Monterey trip.
I nearly spilt what was on my dissection plate when jumping up to grab the tickets from him and hug him. All my work in asking and almost begging him had paid off. Lance looked at me with a smile. Time durning the summer away from out father was ten times better then being at home.
"If you can get your brothers to pick you up from your father's and get you here by the 8th we'll spend some time at the aquariam in Monterey before you leave." I nodded and finally sat back down to do our work. I could tell he was smiling and it wouldn't take anything out of us to go to our brothers to get at least one of them to drive us to the school on the 8th so that we could have some free time before the journey started.
We got home that day and things took a turn for the worst. At least for me. I walked in the house and my father took my binder away from me angry that dinner was not cooked. I ran into the kitchen to start making it leaving Lance to go and put our things away before father got any angrier. It didn't work that way though.
"You Rotten excuse for a child. Do you honestly think that I'd let you leave on some fancy curise when we haven't the money and you haven't given me any reason too." "Father its paid for. Mr. Clark got those for us and we are going there is nothing you can do to stop us. If you try I'll go to the cops." That wasn't the best thing to say really. He slapped me and Lance was quick enough to grab the tickets and hide them. I jumped out of his way and picked up the phone to call my brothers who all head an apartment not too far away from our house.
They were there in a flash and the night ended with me tending to my own wounds as was usual and getting ready to go on an adventure.
