Teens ages 13-17 have come from all over the world to Monterey, California to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And what's that? It's to sail around the Pacific, looking for rare marine life. To some, it will be the greatest thing in their young lives. It will be the adventure that they're looking for. But to others, it will be absolute boredom. That is, until the boat's gas tank explodes. All of the adults were killed and some of the teens in the explosion. The survivors were left floating in the middle of the ocean. Nobody thought any land was nearby-only ocean was visible for miles. Most had managed to climb up on debris from the wreckage, and everything
was caught in a strong current. The survivors eventually washed up onto the island, and were extremely disappointed to find that there was no civilization on the island. Now, people who have never met before must work together to survive on the island where they are all alone...

The River The river is the only source of freshwater on the island. It isn't very wide, but is estimated to be about thirty feet deep. The river divides the island.
